Hassabo Group has a major role to play in the area providing jobs to 1,000 - 1,200 workers in the region including women and men. In 2010 it was time to turn attention to the loyal and respected floor workers of Hassabo because we believe they are the apple of our eye. HG became the first socially responsible certified company in Sudan. So, we developed our stores to become a socially responsible place, which meant for the workers and the residence of Elrahad that Hassabo is their favorite place of work.
As a corporate, being socially responsible isn’t just about having an accredited certificate, therefore we strive to keep close relationship with our workers so far we have built additional new modern toilets (Hygiene controlled) in the stores, offering free first aid service, as well as providing fully free education for the workers’ and their children. HG is only company in the region operating a strict policy on child labor and working contracts.
Our modern stores are also used by the local community leaders’ and mayors to host social events, sport events, health training events and conference meetings. One of our locally valued efforts was the work with the UNICEF in order to purify drinking water for the local community pulling hands together to dig an artesian wale free of charge for residents of El Rahad to drink pure water; it’s our way of thanking them outside the work frame.

We are working in partnership with international and local organizations in order to improve famers’ income, cutting out the middleman is central to this mission because we believe that struggling farmers deserve to earn higher income for what they sweat for. Establishing collection centers around farming areas allows farmers to sell directly to processing stores and giving them the opportunity to sell at almost 100% increase in price.
